Gardening Workshop for Kids at Greystone Mansion

The City of Beverly Hills Community Service Department is offering two unique gardening workshops for kids 8 – 12 years old on October 22 and on October 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Greystone Mansion Demonstration Garden in Beverly Hills.  Kids can enroll in an individual workshop, or both.  Cost of the workshop is $15 for Beverly Hills residents and $19 for non-residents.

As more and more people grow their own herbs and produce their own fruits and vegetables in raised garden beds in their backyards or on their apartment patios, it makes sense to teach our youth about the lost art of gardening. The gardening workshops offered will give kids an opportunity to engage their natural curiosity and wonder about what it takes to grow fruits and vegetables and design their own little garden.  Kids will learn tool safety, soil types, preparation and maintenance, introduction to seeds, plant selection, transplanting seedlings, plant nutrition and fertilizer, irrigation, mulching, seed tape and more.
